Abstract:

This experiment was conducted to examine the effect of multi-strain probiotic (Primalac) on performance, immune responses and cecal microflora in broiler chickens under cyclic heat stress condition. A total of 96 one-d-old mixed sex broiler chicks (Ross 308) were weighed and randomly allocated to two treatment groups, each with 4 replicate pens of 12 chicks. The dietary treatments were basal diet (control) andcontrol +0.9 g Primalac/kg diet. Body weights of broilers were determined at d 1, 21 and 42, feed intake was determined at the same periods, and feed conversion ratio was calculated accordingly. The populations of Lactobacilli spp and coliforms were enumerated in the cecum. Antibody titers against Newcastle, Bronchitis, and Gumboro were measured as immune responses at 28 d of age. As a result of this study, use of probiotic significantly(P

Effects of probiotic, Clostridium butyricum, on growth performance, immune function, and cecal microflora in broiler chickens.

Four hundred and fifty 1-d-old male Lingnan Yellow broiler chickens were used to investigate the effects of Clostridium butyricum on growth performance, immune function, and cecal microflora. The birds were randomly assigned to 5 treatments and offered the same antibiotic-free basal diets for 42 d. The treatments were as follows: no addition (control), 1 × 10(7) cfu C. butyricum/kg of diet (CB1...

A comparison between the effects of a probiotic (Bioplus 2B) and an antibiotic (virginiamycin) on the performance of broiler chickens under heat stress condition

An experiment was conducted on 400 broilers to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation ofantibiotic and probiotic on performance of birds under heat stress condition. The first group of chickens, thecontrol group, received a diet without any antibiotic and probiotic. The second group received diet with0.02% virginiamycin antibiotic; the two other groups were fed diets with 0.05% and 0.1...

Effects of Protexin Probiotic and Aquablend Avian Antibody on Performance and Immune System of Broiler Chickens

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of protexin probiotic and aquablend avian antibody on the performance and immune system of broilers. In this experiment, 320 1-day-old male broiler chicks of the Ross 308, with 5 treatments and 4 replications in a completely randomized design were distributed in experimental units (cages). The treatments include: control (C), protexin (P1), pr...

Effects of Clostridium butyricum on growth performance, immune function, and cecal microflora in broiler chickens challenged with Escherichia coli K88.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Clostridium butyricumon growth performance, immune function, and cecal microflora in broiler chickens challenged with Escherichia coli K88. Three hundred sixty 1-d-old broiler chickens were randomly divided into 4 treatments: negative control (NC) birds were fed a basal diet and not challenged with E. coli K88; positive control (PC) birds w...
